Each year the LOCI participates in dozens of parades and other patriotic and community functions in the Pacific Northwest.

The Forty and Eight Locomotive is a replica of a Nineteenth Century French WWI era coal burning locomotive engine. It was built in 1973 in Vancouver, WA. and has appeared in parades and gatherings throughout the United States, Alaska and Canada. It is 12 feet 6 inches high, 29 feet 6 inches long and weighs in at almost 18,000 pounds. It can carry up to 13 passengers with a crew of three. It is powered by a Cummings Diesel Engine with an Allison six speed automatic transmission.

The Forty and Eight LOCI has been driven to all four corners of the United States and as far north as the Arctic-Circle visiting Fairbanks, Alaska via the Al-Can Highway.
